  • Identify the components of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
  • Explain how form relates to function in the respiratory system.
  • Explain the principles of diffusion.
  • Describe the process of gas exchange.
  • Describe the transport of gases.
  • Outline the mechanism of breathing.
  • Describe the control of breathing.
  • Trace the flow of blood as it enters the right side of the heart until it leaves the left side of the heart.
  • Identify the heart chambers, valves and major vessels of the heart.
  • Explain how the structure of the heart relates to its function.
  • Illustrate how the form of blood vessels varies according to the function of the vessel.
  • Describe the components of blood.
